MANSFIELD, Texas - Dorothy "Dot" Ann Lomicky Mitchell, native and longtime resident of Dover, died peacefully with her son Mark at her side, on Dec. 10, 2017 at Isle at Watercrest, a memory care facility in Mansfield, Texas.
Dot was a graduate of Felton High School, the University of Delaware and Delaware State University. Dot was a longtime home economics educator in the Lake Forest, Caesar Rodney and Capitol school districts. In 1982, Dot was honored as teacher of the year. Dot and her late husband Jack especially loved to travel, hitting all 50 states, all the Canadian provinces (even Nunavut!) and all the continents, including Antarctica. Dot also loved to spend time with her family, cook and take care of her garden.
She is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Fuess (Scott) of Lincoln, Neb.; sons, Steven Mitchell (Karin) of Arnold, Md., and Mark Mitchell (Christie) of Mansfield, Texas; sister, Georgia Lomicky Kerns (Joseph) of Lee, N.H.; grandchildren, Jessica, Reilly, Annika and Harry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private celebration of life in 2018, but condolences may be sent via Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas: http://www.blessingfuneralhome.net/obituaries/Dorothy-Mitchell-13/
If you wish to make a memorial gift for Dot, the family suggests a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association.
