GOLDSBORO, Md. - Doris Ann Lister Porter, of Goldsboro, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in Bayhealth-Kent General Medical Center, Dover. She was 47. She was born Dec. 7, 1961, in Easton, to the late John Thomas Lister, Jr. and Lois Juanita Neill Lister of Goldsboro. Mrs. Porter had groomed race horses for her father-in-law. She also previously worked as a waitress and for the former Sandal Packing of Sandtown, Del. She most recently had worked for the Caroline Nursing Home of Denton. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 25 years, James Porter Jr. of Goldsboro; two daughters, Lisa Nickerson and husband Jason, and Crystal Porter and companion Steven Greenwell, all of Henderson; four brothers, John Lister and Faye of New York, Jimmy and Lucy Lister of W.Va., Walter Lister and Linda of Henderson, and Harry Lister and Denise of Hartly, Del.; one sister, Betty Lister and Shannon of Goldsboro; mother-in-law, Violet Porter of Greensboro; father-in-law, James and Hazel Porter Sr.; brother-in-law, Danny and Nicole Porter, all of Delaware; sister-in-law, Melissa and Peter Clifford of Virginia; and four grandchildren, Cory, Jonna, Jevan Nickerson, and Dylan Greenwell. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Lister. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.
