Dorcas S. Miller

GREENWOOD - Dorcas S. Miller passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 as members of her family prayed and sang to her at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, she resided there for the last year and a half. She was at home here, overlooking the area they raised the family, and in the place where she had so many memories with her parents. Dorcas was born June 28, 1926, to Laban and Nanna Swartzentruber. She was a homemaker and for years operated the Bible Book and Gift Nook out of her home. Dorcas was a gifted writer and for years was the editor of the Sister's Page of Brotherhood Beacon. She touched many lives and will be missed. She was predeceased by her parents; and her sisters, Marian (Milton) Hostetler, Esther (Edward) Diener, Dorothy (Dale) Steckley, Rachel (Titus) Schlabach, Vida (Harold) Huber; and her brothers Clayton (Margaret) Swartzentruber, and Mahlon; her husband, Jacob; a great-granddaughter, Adrianna. Together Jacob and Dorcas raised nine children, Norma, Dorothy (Menno) Chupp, J. Lowell (Karen) Miller, Mildred (Dave) Holderread, Joseph (Joanne) Miller, Wanita (Dale) Green, Jonathon (Sharon) Miller, Nathaniel (Janelle) Miller, and Leland (Wilma) Miller; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grand children; and one great great grand child. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, at Greenwood Mennonite Church in Greenwood. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 3 p.m. at the church Interment will be held at the Greenwood Mennonite Church Cemetery, Greenwood. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
