Donald W. Lord, 86 CHESWOLD - Donald W. Lord, 86, peacefully passed away at his home in Cheswold, on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. He was born June 6, 1923, in Caroline County, to the late Alfred and Annie Weaver Lord. Donald was a long time resident of Caroline County, Md., hosting pony races on Sunday afternoons on his farm near Greensboro. He then moved to Delaware, where he worked as a caretaker for Murphy School retiring after 22 years of service. Upon retiring he moved to Cheswold, where he was a caretaker for Strimel Trailer Court until 2007. Donald was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge. He enjoyed a long life filled with many friends, and playing bluegrass music, camping, dancing, shuffle board, playing cards. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Lord, five step-children, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers and three sisters. Friends are invited to attend a service at the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W Sunset Ave., Greensboro, on Wednesday, June 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family sends its sincere thanks and asks that donations to be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702 B.
