LINCOLN - Donald L. "Donnie" Glasco, 64, of Lincoln, answered his last alarm Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford after a long battle with diabetes. Donnie was born on July 24, 1947, in Milford, the son of the late Harry L. "Hap" Glasco and Dorothy B. Glasco. Donnie and his wife Judy operated a poultry farm for several years in Lincoln. Before becoming disabled in 2008, Donnie also worked as a paratransit driver with Dart Transporation. In his younger years, Donnie was very involved with Boy Scout Troop 307 of Lincoln, where he had served as Scout Master. He enjoyed gardening, following NASCAR with his favorite drivers being Bill Elliott and Harry Gant, was a faithful fan of the Washington Redskins and the University of Delaware Fighting Blue Hens football team. He was a member of the Milford Elks Lodge #2401. Donnie was also proud to serve his community as a volunteer firefighter. He was a lifetime member of the Ellendale Fire Company, where he held the offices of Rescue Captain, President, Vice-President and Fire Police. He also had been a member of the Memorial Fire Company of Slaughter Beach for 13 years. Donnie was a loving husband, father and brother. He will be remembered as a guy with a wonderful sense of humor and was always the life of the party. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Sutcliffe. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Judy; his son, Donald Kent Glasco; two brothers, Bob Glasco and his wife Doris and Lee Glasco and his wife Charlene; three sisters, Carolyn Tucker and her husband Ralph, Faye Steigelman and her husband John, and Cindy Walsh and her husband Doug; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services with Firefighter Honors will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at the Ellendale Fire Company, 302 Main Street, Ellendale, where friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the Ellendale Fire Company, 302 Main Street, Ellendale, DE 19941; or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
