Donald Jay Welch

HARRINGTON - Donald Jay Welch, 53, of Harrington, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at the Pinnacle Rehab and Health Center, Smyrna. Mr. Welch was the son of the late Clarence E. and Violet M. (Willey) Welch. He was a mechanic specializing in agricultural equipment. He enjoyed following NASCAR and had a knack for drawing race cars in his earlier years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, C.K.R.T. Post # 7 Harrington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Bonnie Welch in 2002. He is survived by four brothers, Michael Welch, of Harrington, Steve Welch and his wife Polly, of Harbeson, Ricky Welch, of Harrington and Gary Welch of Georgia; two sisters, Dawn Welch and Karen Welch, both of Harrington; two nieces, Michelle Messick and her husband Adam, of Harrington and Sherry Bridges and her husband Jason, of Franklin, Tenn.; two nephews, Thomas Bush of Frederica and Kelly Bush and his wife Rhiannon, of Lincoln; four great nieces; and one great nephew. Funeral services were 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington, where friends may called after 11 a.m. Burial will be private in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
