CAMBRIDGE — Bill Ferguson, district governor for Rotary District 7630, made his annual visit to the Rotary Club of Cambridge. A Rotarian since 1987, DG Bill has served on numerous Rotary committees, deciding to apply for the position as District Governor after serving as an assistant governor.

During his talk, he discussed the Object of Rotary “… is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise…” Bill went on to say, “Rotarians can accomplish this by developing acquaintances, maintaining high ethical standards in our business and personal lives and advancing our international understanding through world fellowship. With this we can make a difference.”

Gov. Bill highlighted the Six Areas of Focus which Rotary stresses. The areas are Basic Education and Literacy, Maternal and Child Health, Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water Sanitation and Economic and Community Development. With each of the areas, individual Rotary Clubs chose how they want to address them. Rotary’s major health goal since 1985 has been the eradication of polio worldwide.

Gov. Bill’s volunteerism carries over to the Discovery Center and Chesapeake Housing Missions building ramps.
