NEWARK - Dolores Adele Scott transitioned to her home in glory on October 15, 2015. Dolores Adele Hope was born on May 15th, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Amos and Dora Hope who migrated to the US from Barbados. Dolores was educated in Brooklyn, New York and retired from New York City Transit Authority after 25 years of service. Dolores married Charles Edward Scott on August 22nd, 1952 whom preceded her in death. Through this union, their two daughters, Charlene & Lisa were born. Dolores accepted Christ as her personal savior in April 1966 and worshipped at several churches in Brooklyn, New York. Dolores relocated to Delaware in 2001 and became a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church where she was active in several ministries. Dolores was very active with the Newark Senior Center and made many friends there. Dolores shared her faith in the Lord and encouraged everyone she met. Dolores leaves to cherish her memory her 2 daughters; Charlene Lowe (Richard) Brooklyn, NY and Lisa Nurse (Colin) Newark, DE, one grandson; Kyle Thornton, three granddaughters; Christina Nurse-Baptiste (Hayden), Christine Lowe, Kimberly Nurse, Gabrielle Lowe, three great-grandchildren Akaelyn, Bryson and Judah, several adopted sons and daughters and many friends and relatives. Funeral services will be 6 P.M. Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Evan Smith Funeral Home, 201 N. Union Street, Wilmington. There will be a two hour viewing before the service. The Celebration of Life will continue at 7 P.M. Thursday October 22, 2015, at Beula Church of the Nazarene, 1250 St. Johns Place, Brooklyn, NY. There will be a two hour viewing before the service. The interment will be at Cypress Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. All services have been entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home 717 West Division Street, Dover, DE 19904.
