DOVER — Delawareans 50 years old or older can officially sign up for the state’s waiting list to receive the COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday.
Registration can be done here. This will put individuals on the waiting list, which will lead to invitations to state-run vaccination events at Dover International Speedway, Division of Motor Vehicles sites and Curative Inc. sites at Delaware Technical Community College campuses.
Those 50 and older have been eligible to receive the vaccine at pharmacies since March 17.
Delaware has administered 377,195 doses of vaccine as of Sunday at 11:59 p.m., according to information in the state’s immunization information system DelVAX. A total of 133,397 persons are fully vaccinated, including 126,671 who received two doses of a two-dose vaccine series and 6,726 who received one dose of a one-dose series. An additional 117,204 individuals have received one dose of a two-dose series and are awaiting a second dose.
There have been a total of 457,355 doses delivered to Delaware with 373,960 shipped directly to the state and 83,395 alloted through the Federal Pharmacy Program.
Delaware’s COVID-19 statistics have experienced some minor increases over the last several days.
Hospitalizations are up to 111 — the third-highest total in the last 16 days and the second-straight day hospitalizations increased. Of those currently hospitalized, 11 are considered serious according to statistics via the Delaware Division of Public Health as of Sunday at 6 p.m.
The number of 111 is still down by 71 compared to 30 days ago when it was at 182.
Delaware’s seven-day rolling average of percentage of positive tests is at 4.1% after remaining below 4% for most of the last week. The rolling average is still below the World Health Organization’s recommended mark of 5%.
The DPH reported 137 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Monday’s report to bring the overall total to 92,429 positives since March 11, 2020. The state is averaging 215.7 new cases per day over the last seven days.
Two new COVID-19-related deaths were reported by the DPH on Monday, increasing Delaware’s total to 1,531. Both individuals were from New Castle County while neither were a resident of a long-term care center. Long-term care facilities have made up 725 of the 1,531 COVID-19-related deaths (47%).
The two deaths reported by the DPH were those of individuals 74 and 78 years old.
