DURHAM, N.C. — Delaware State took control in overtime to post a 75-64 victory over North Carolina Central in MEAC women’s basketball on Monday night.

The Hornets snapped a five-game losing streak to improve to 3-6 in the MEAC, 7-15 overall.

DelState out-scored the Eagles, 14-3, in overtime after the contest was tied 61-61 at the end of regulation. N.C. Central’s Morgan Callahan hit one of two foul shots with 12 seconds left in regulation to send the contest to OT.

Denijsha Wilson netted 21 points and had six steals with her basket with 3:30 left in overtime putting the Hornets ahead for good. Ja-Naiah Perkins-Jackson added 16 points from the bench and Savannah Brooks scored 11.

McKenzie Stewart’s collected eight offensive rebounds while DSU forced the Eagles into 27 turnovers.

DelState is home on Thursday when it hosts Morgan State at 5:30 p.m.

MEN, North Carolina Central 93, Delaware State 81: Martaz Robinson scored 27 points and Deywilk Tavarez added 21 but the Hornets dropped the MEAC road contest on Monday.

DelState, which fell to 5-6 in the MEAC, 12-15 overall, also got 13 points from Cameron Stitt.

North Carolina Central opened up a 62-47 advantage in the second half before holding off the Hornets.

DelState next hosts Norfolk State on Saturday at 4 p.m. in its home finale.
