WILMINGTON -The Delaware Court of Chancery today announced that Tamara Burton will become its new Court Administrator and Register in Chancery starting on April 1.

As the Court Administrator and Register in Chancery, a news release said, Ms. Burton will report directly to Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick and will oversee the court’s fiscal and personnel functions along with the operations of Register in Chancery’s office.

Ms. Burton joins the Court of Chancery after serving as Deputy Court Administrator for the Delaware Court of Common Pleas for the past 10 years. Before joining the Judicial Branch, Ms. Burton spent over 20 years with the Department of Labor. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wilmington University.

Ms. Burton replaces Susan Judge, who is retiring after 15 years with the Judicial Branch. Ms. Judge has acted as Court Administrator and Register in Chancery over the past three years and prior to that served as Superior Court Administrator.

“Ms. Judge has been the backbone of the Court through the challenges of the pandemic and an exemplar of professionalism during her career,” said Chancellor McCormick.

“Although we will miss her in Chambers, we congratulate her on her well-deserved retirement. We extend a hearty welcome to Ms. Burton, who brings with her a wealth of experience in the courts and state government.

“We are confident that she is well poised to aid our Court in providing excellent service to the citizens of the State.”
