COACHES: Delaware — Danny Rocco (31-21, 5th season at UD; 121-63, 15th season overall); Richmond — Russ Huseman (22-25, 5th season at Richmond; 81-62, 13th season overall).

NATIONAL RANKING: Neither team is ranked in the FCS polls.

CAA: Delaware — 3-3; Richmond — 2-4.

LAST WEEK: Delaware beat William & Mary, 24-3; Richmond beat Towson, 28-17.

SERIES: Delaware leads, 21-12.

LAST MEETING: Richmond won, 35-25, in 2019.

KEYS TO THE GAME: The Blue Hens did a number of good things in last week’s win over William & Mary. They held the Tribe without a TD while scoring more than 20 points for the first time since the second game of the season. If it wants to stay in the picture for an NCAA FCS playoff berth at all, Delaware will have to do the same kind of things today. While the offense looked better last week, the Hens also took advantage of short fields and have to be better than 1-for-11 on third down. They can hardly afford to be overconfident just because they’ve won a couple in a row. ... Like Delaware, the Spiders shook off a losing streak (five in a row) to win their last two games. In Richmond’s 2019 victory, QB Joe Mancuso was a headache for the Hens. He completed 21-of-29 passes for 280 yards with a TD while also running the ball 15 times for 95 yards and two more TDs. Macuso is currently fourth in the CAA in total offense at 216.3 ypg. He has missed two games this year and has only 10 TD passes compared to six INTs. ... Coach Rocco said on Monday he didn’t like the look of the Hens’ injury report but it’s difficult to predict exactly what players will be available today. Delaware has had some unheralded players step up lately but there’s only so many frontline players it can be without before it becomes an issue. On the other hand, getting a couple players back — like WR Thyrick Pitts or LB Colby Reeder — would certainly help their cause.

NOTES: Delaware goes into the weekend one of five teams tied for fourth place in the CAA with 3-3 league records. ... WR James Collins has seven catches for 99 yards and two TDs in the last three games. ... Rocco is 2-1 vs. Richmond, the program he left to come to Delaware. ... James Madison, which announced last Saturday that is moving up the FBS Sun Belt Conference, is still eligible for the CAA’s automatic playoff bid. The Dukes are currently tied for first place with Villanova. ... Delaware finishes its schedule by hosting Villanova next Saturday at 1 p.m.
