DOVER - Deanne J. New of Dover died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at home. She was 71. Mrs. New was born October 19, 1942 in Muskegon, Mich., to Albert I. Bergez and the late Laurene Hansen Bergez. She started in retail sales, then joined the financial industry, working as a banker and stockbroker for various firms, until her retirement in 1998. Deanne loved travelling, was an avid reader, a fan of University of Delaware sports, and her family. Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey New in 1989. She is survived by her father, Albert Bergez of Dover; three sons, David New of Townsend, Christopher New and wife Andrea of Tempe, Ariz., and Robert New and wife Kim of Corapeake, N.C.; brother, Richard Bergez of Wilmington; four grandchildren, David, Jordan, Taylor and Megan New; and longtime companion, George Fisher IV of Dover. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be private.
