Deanna Jane Hempy Roshong

Pataskala, Ohio - Deanna Jane (nee) Hempy Roshong, a 22 year resident of Pataskala, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Jan. 9, 2016. She is predeceased by her mother, Myra Jane Hempy; her father, Edgar Franklin Hempy; and other stepson, Christopher Roshong. Deanna is survived by her husband of 36 years, Carl; her stepson, Kenneth Roshong; his wife, Laddawal "Noi"; and her grandchildren, Indra and Andrew. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Schmalhofer and her husband, Jerry Allen of New Bern, NC; and son, George Schmalhofer and wife, Dana of Seattle, WA; her brother-in-law, Ronald Roshong and his wife, Ruth and their children, Renee' Peters and husband Bruce all of Ramsey, NJ; Robin Kraebel and husband Jeffery of Wyckoff, NJ; Ronald Roshong, Jr., and wife Jessica of Packanack Lake, NJ. Deanna will be remembered by her adoring nephews and nieces; Zachary, Emily, Mikey, Edward, Olivia, and Madison. Deanna was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 27, 1951. She attended Canal Winchester High school and graduated from Otterbein University in 1973 with a degree in Education and Art History. She began her career as a 4th grade teacher at Amanda Clear Creek Elementary School, Fairfield County, Ohio. She worked as a Floral Designer for Crawford's Flowers, and had seasonal employment with Lynn' s Fruit Farm, Pataskala, OH and Ambius Corporation, Groveport, OH. On April 21, 1979, she married Carl and was welcomed into the Roshong family. Deanna, a former Docent for the Toledo Museum of Art, a Master Gardener, member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and her home was always open for visitors. She was a spiritual woman involved in many church activities, including membership in The Anglican Order of Daughter's of the King and President of the Altar Guild. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her including two Springer Spaniels, Eddie and Floyd. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, January 15th at 2:00 p.m. at St Johns Episcopal Church, Lancaster, OH. The Reverend William Pursley will officiate. There will also be a Memorial Service in the spring in Dover, Delaware, where family members will gather to celebrate Deanna's life. In lieu of flowers, please contribute in Deanna's memory to St Johns Altar Guild or to your favorite charity.
