Deacon Anthony 'Buddy' Bianco HARRINGTON - Deacon Anthony "Buddy" Bianco, of Harrington, died suddenly on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial. He was 79. He was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Angelo A. and Philomena Bianco. He retired to Harrington, from Seaford, N.Y., in 1995. Buddy retired to Delaware after working 50 years alongside his wife in their shop Florabud, which was a landmark florist in Seaford, N.Y. Buddy was an Ordained Deacon for over 20 years, first in Maria Regina Catholic Church in Seaford, N.Y., and then at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Harrington. Additionally, he was a Secular Franciscan, Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the Holy Name Society, an Advocate, along with his wife, with the Wilmington Diocese Tribunal, as well as an instructor of RCIA. He was passionate in his role as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He brought joy to the homebound he visited. Buddy was well known in his community for helping everyone. He loved interacting with people and sharing his faith. He always had a kind word and his charisma and enthusiastic smile always lit up a room. He will be greatly missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Charles, and John Bianco; and sister, Tina Bianco. He will be sorrowfully missed by the "Love of his Life" his wife of 58 years, Florence R. Bianco of Harrington; his children, Marie and Bill Blair, Drew Bianco, Bruce Bianco, Scott Bianco, Kathleen and John Westbay, Nancy Bianco, and Jeanne Bianco; and seven grandchildren, Dennis, Meaghan, Angela, Ashley, Christina, Theresa, and Sarah. Also survived by his sister, Barbara Fields, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 2, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Harrington. A visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., today, Jan. 1, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 4, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
