David Knox Swank

DOVER - David Knox Swank, Jr. passed away Sunday, Jun. 4, 2017, at home.
Mr. Swank was born Feb. 7, 1943 in New Kensington, Pa. to the late David K. Swank, Sr. and Edwina Chinock Swank.
He served in the United States Air Force retiring in 1981 after 20 years as a TSgt. After his military career he worked Civil Service as a Supervisory Equipment Specialist and two years with the U.S. State Department. He enjoyed model railroading and gardening. Mr. Swank was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Short.
Mr. Swank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Rickaby Swank, of Dover; son, David K. Swank, III (Sandra), of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Adele Swank (Alexander Ward), of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother, Gregory Swank (Phyllis), of Bigler, Pa., Thomas Swank, of Clearfield, Pa.; sisters, Brenda Haskins, of Clearfield, Pa. and Trudy Hipps (Timothy), of Hershey, Pa.; grandchildren, Emily and Brian Swank; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Home of the Brave http://homeofthebravefdn.org.
