CLAYTON - David Allen Conn Sr., of Clayton, passed away in his home Monday Oct. 6, 2008. He was 54. David was born April 26, 1954, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Ted Conn of Dana, Kentucky and Viola Garney Bridges of Millsboro. David worked as a welder for the Chrysler Corporation in Newark, for several years before retiring due to disability. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. David was an avid crabber and boater and enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching sports on T.V. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid Smyrna Eagles fan. In his earlier years, David was an amateur boxer, a PAL basketball coach and a boxing coach. He loved running, walking and animals, especially his dog, Dewey and his cat, Sammy. David was a very spiritual person and had a special love for his children. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jeannine Haman Conn; a daughter, Carrie Jean Conn at home; a son, David a. Conn Jr. at home; four sisters, Barbara Conrad of Indiana, Joyce Callahan and Lisa Conn both of Millsboro and Kittie Rehrig of Bear, and a brother, Marvin Sullivan of Newark. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Faith Baptist Church, 1575 Bryn-Zion Road, Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Faith Baptist Youth Program, 1575 Bryn-Zion Road Smyrna, DE 19977. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware. Letters of condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
