HARRINGTON - David Albert Sarchett was born May 5, 1934 in Hillsboro, Ill. and died in Dover, Del. on May 25, 2013 after an extended illness. David was married to Melba J. Anderson for 59 years, and was the father of 3 children: Rebecca L., Julie G., and Timothy J. Sarchett. David spent much of his life in Flint, Mich. where he was a hairdresser, owning 4 salons over 4 decades. He was involved with many cosmetology associations including the National Cosmetology Association and was former president of the Michigan Cosmetology Association from 1989-1991. He was also an honorary member of the Michigan Cosmetology Education Committee and taught for many years. David was a NCA Hall of Fame member and was recognized by the NCA Board of Directors by having the 1999 North American Beauty Show International dedicated to him for his years of dedication and commitment. David and Melba moved to Harrington, Del. in 2004 to be closer to family in the area. He enjoyed various crafts, including oil painting and other artistic endeavors, playing games, sightseeing, and being with his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, George; sister, Vera; daughter, Julie; and grandson, Jeremy Farah. David is survived by wife, Melba; daughter, Rebecca King and husband Dennis; son, Timothy and wife Kathleen; grandson, Nicklaus King and wife Theresa; granddaughter, Chelsea Farah; great-grandson, Blake King, great-granddaughter Isabelle King; great-granddaughter, Catherine Lahey; and sister, Melissa Lang. He will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service will be held for friends and family at the Harrington Senior Citizens Center at 2 p.m. on Fri., June 21, 2013.
