DOVER — The Daughters of the American Revolution and Col. John Haslet Chapter of Dover are promoting Constitution Week through Sept. 23 with a display at the Dover Public Library. Constitution Week is the annual commemoration of the United States Constitution, a document that provides the framework for the federal government and upholds and protects the freedoms central to our American way of life.
Each year during Constitution Week, the chapter educates Delawareans on the importance of protecting, defending and preserving our constitution. The exhibit features a copy of the U.S. Constitution, a Proclamation from Dover Mayor Robin R. Christiansen declaring Sept. 17 - 23 as Constitution Week in Dover, and information on Delaware’s role in the formation of the country by being the first state to ratify the new federal constitution on Dec. 7, 1787.
