Darmanin: New fee is unfair for low-mileage drivers

Posted

Bravo, Andrew Siegel! Your Opinion is absolutely correct (“Is the new alternative fuel vehicle fee fair?”).

You did miss one additional aspect of this unjust money grab. Many older adults (like me) are low-mileage drivers. Since I purchased a 2024 Toyota Corolla in April of last year, I have driven 6,000 miles, which includes a 1,000-mile one-time excursion. Using your stated statistics, I have saved possibly $8 in gasoline taxes. For being concerned about the environment and my finances, I am being unfairly discriminated against!

I wish you luck with your fight.
