Darlene Lois May Carey

Clayton - Mrs. Carey passed away in her home in Clayton on Nov. 23, 2017. She was born Nov. 7, 1948, in Chester County, Pa., the daughter of the late Edgar F. and Virginia Benjamin May.
She was raised in Cecil County, Md., and graduated from Bohemia Manor High School in 1967.
She met and married William (Bill) A. Carey in 1968. During the eighties, she worked at Sand-Del in Marydel, later working as a cashier at Ames in Smyrna, and Central Tractor in Camden.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Dianna and Donald Bose, and Melissa Carey, all of Hartly; her two grandchildren, Jennifer and James Honaker, of Greer, S.C., and Jason and Brittley Fisher Bose, of Hartly; four great-grandchildren, James, Jr., Jonathan, Jeremy, and Juliet, all of Greer. Also surviving, are her nine siblings, Rella Kane, Elizabeth Kay Poe, both of Newark, Ellen Bragg of Federalsburg, Md., Betty Eliyas, of Denton, Md., Marie Ireland, of Price, Md., Rosemary Roe, of Ridgely, Md., Allan May, of Preston, Md., Shirley May of Federalsburg, Md. and Karen may of Clayton, who has been her caretaker of the past three years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Virginia; and brother, Edgar Dean May.
