Darlene H. Porter, 65 MILTON - Darlene H. Porter, of Milton, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 65. Darlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Darlene was born on Dec. 20, 1944, and lived in Harrington with her mother, who ran Dot's Restaurant. She also helped in raising her two sisters, Barbara and Debbie. They moved to Wilmington in her senior year of high school and after graduation she married her high school sweetheart in 1963. She retired from Pathmark in Newark after 25 years of service and moved to Milton in 2003 to enjoy retirement with her husband. Darlene returned to work part-time at Gordy Insurance Agency and had taken a leave of absence to fight her battle with cancer. Darlene was also a member of the Grace Church in Milton. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Kates; sister, Barbara Jackson; daughters, Gail Elaine Porter, and Susan Renee Clancy. She is survived by her father, Marion Hutchins; husband, James Edward Porter; son, James Michael Porter and his wife Dawn Renee Porter; grandchildren, James-Michael Hunter Porter, Meadow Leigh Porter, Cynthia Renee Clancy; and sister, Debbie Howard. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, at Grace Church, 514 Union St., Milton, where friends may call after 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Grace Church of Milton, 514 Union St. Milton, DE 19968.
