WILMINGTON - Darian Marie Campfield, of Wilmington, formerly of Seaford, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010. She was 31. She was born Sept. 20, 1979, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, to Robin and Duane Campfield. She graduated from Seaford Senior High School in 1997 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in psychology, and women's studies with a minor in sociology. She earned her master's degree in Community Counseling from Wilmington College. She devoted her life to helping other people while working as a substance and drug abuse counselor. She was a licensed personal therapist currently working with troubled children and adults in the Latin American Community Center. She was an exceptionally talented musician, writer, and composer who performed with many bands throughout the years. She always joked that by day she was a therapist but by night a rock goddess. She was the most genuinely wonderful, caring, compassionate, person you could meet. She put her needs behind all others. In her free time she could be found volunteering with those less fortunate and was actively involved in local politics. Family was the most important thing in her life. Her niece, Delaney, was her sunshine. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Milton Tracey, and Glenn Campfield; and great-grandmother, Emma Jane Gray. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Robin and Duane Campfield of Seaford; a sister, Alison Hammond and her husband Josh of Dover; grandmothers, Anne Louise Tracey of Bethel, and Fran Campfield of Sinking Springs, Pa.; a beloved niece, Delaney Hammond; and a host of friends, family, and other relatives. A Funeral Service was held at Sailors Bethel United Methodist Church on Main Street in Bethel, on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at 11 a.m., a visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment followed in Bethel Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Darian's name to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693; or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home Laurel. Online condolences can be made to the Campfield family by visiting, www.hsdfuneralhome.com.
