HARRINGTON - Danny Hicks, 62, of Harrington, passed away suddenly in West Palm Beach, Fla., while visiting his son. Danny was born in Milford, the son of the late Dorsey Hicks and Pauline Webb. He was a graduate of Harrington High School. He was a veteran of the Vietman War serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp. After his discharge from the service, he worked at Kraft Foods in Dover until he retired. Danny was a weight lifter, enjoyed playing softball as well as bowling. He loved old cars and also loved to travel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene Hicks, Roger Hicks, and Robin Hicks. Danny is survived by three children, Tanis Hicks, Kyle Hicks and his wife Stacey Cubit - Hicks, and Dana Jordon; three grandchildren, Michaela Hicks, DeRay Moore and Kyley Cubit-Hicks; four sisters, Carol Robinson and her husband Guy, Brenda Wix and her husband Brett, Helena Ellingsworth and her husband Ed and Yvonne Wooleyhand and her husband Thomas Wooleyhand Jr.; one brother, John Hicks; his step father, Arlie Webb; two step brothers, James and Bill Webb; two step sisters, Linda Cooper and Ruth Baker; ex-wives, Carol Goldsbury and Donna Messick; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles; and his longtime companion, Gloria Demby. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington, where a Celebration of Danny's Life will take place at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mattlind Way, Dover, DE 19901.
