Daniels: Who’s really representing us in Congress?

Posted

Frank Daniels is a retired colonel with the U.S. Army Reserve and a Dover resident.

America spoke Nov. 5, 2024, and a lot of Delaware (i.e., New Castle County) didn’t hear and/or get the message. We replaced an outgoing Democratic senator with our Democratic congresswoman and, in turn, replaced that congresswoman with the first transgender member of Congress. Sen. Chris Coons, also a Democrat, stayed in place. So, who are these three individuals? In my humble estimation, they are nothing more than “machine” politicians who will serve their masters, regardless of the outcome of their votes.

The Democratic Party — and, in particular, the Boss Tweed machine of New Castle County — is incredibly representative of those who only care about power and do not truly represent the best well-being of the voters in Delaware. I know, they all won their races but who were they running against?

In the first important vote in Congress this year, all three members of our delegation voted against the Laken Riley Act. Why? I can only speculate that they are OK with letting illegal immigrants prey on our population and not worry about any repercussions. After all, to our Democratic delegation, sanctuary of those immigrants is an important issue, regardless of the financial, social and mental cost to the voters in Delaware.

To really show Delawareans how little they care about us — and especially female athletes — they all voted against eliminating transgender people from participating in women’s sports. I can understand the vote of Congresswoman Sarah McBride, but I am clueless as to why both our senators would vote against the legislation. Of course, when you are a machine politician, you vote the way you are told versus what might be good for our state, our country and women.

In essence, each of our three members of Congress gave the families of female athletes here in Delaware the middle finger by saying that it’s OK for transgender individuals to take spots on their daughters’ teams and participate in their sports. What’s worse, they are saying it’s OK for transgender athletes to change and shower with your daughters in their locker rooms. I guess none of them cares that such individuals could be walking around with the female athletes of Delaware in their locker rooms and showers.

I have a simple question for the fathers of Delaware who have daughters competing at the high school and middle school level: Are you OK with having naked transgender individuals in your daughters’ locker rooms and showers?

Can someone from either McBride’s, Coons’ or Blunt Rochester’s office please explain to me, and the voters of Delaware, the common sense reason for allowing transgender individuals to compete in women’s sports? Please do not tell me I don’t understand or that I am racist or homophobic because I am neither. Also, you must understand that you are violating Title IX? Ah, but Joe Biden and company didn’t really care about the law or the decisions of the Supreme Court.

The 2026 midterm elections are a short 21 months away. It is absolutely imperative that the Republican Party in Delaware unifies now and selects candidates who will bring common sense back to Washington by running against Congresswoman McBride and Sen. Coons. Unfortunately, we are stuck with Sen. Blunt Rochester for the next six years. Rest assured, the Boss Tweed Democratic Party in New Castle County is already working to keep McBride and Coons in office.

The four years of the Biden administration came very close to totally destroying this country. Its insane policies — i.e., allowing transgender people to participate in women’s sports — separated Americans more than we’ve ever been separated. It’s time to unify the country, and in 2026, the voters of Delaware can help the Republican Party increase its majority in both the House of Representatives and Senate. Sending two Republicans from Delaware will go a long way to bringing back common sense to our government.
