Dale Ross Pruett, age 95, of Magnolia, DE, died peacefully with family by his side on Sunday morning, September 15, 2024. Dale, the youngest of four boys, was born in a house "up the hollow" near Sayersville, Virginia to the late Earl and Amelia Shrader Pruett.
Upon graduating from high school in 1946, Dale began working for the Nylon Plant (Du Pont Company) in Seaford. After five years, he was drafted into the US Army, first to the 82nd Airborne and, after training there, was assigned to the 30th Infantry Regiment. After serving, he returned to Du Pont believing this would be his life-long employer. God had something else in store for Dale and, after a discernment process with his wife Margie, he answered the call to ordained ministry in The United Methodist Church. Over the years, as he served the churches in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference to which he was assigned, he led with compassion, joy, hope, and abounding love!
Dale is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie. Left to cherish Dale's memory are four daughters, Janet Knight and her partner David Thompson of Charlottesville, Virginia; Anne Pruett-Barnett and husband Mark of Lewes; Sharon Voshell and her husband Mike of Magnolia; Sandi Pruett of Atlanta; grandchildren, Jessica Pruett-Barnett and her husband Rich Pantoliano; Ryan Voshell and his wife Meridith; Eric Voshell; Chris Jones; and Andrew Jones; great-grandchildren (in order of birth): Lucy Voshell, Lillian Voshell, Braydon Voshell, Maxwell Pruett- Barnett; and many nieces and nephews who loved him as well.
A Celebration of Dale's life will be held at 4 pm, Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 South State St., Dover. Visitation with the family will begin at 3:15 pm.
