Cynthia S. Azar, 66
Cynthia S. Azar of Dover passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on May 31, 2024.
Cindy was born in Blue Island, IL, on January 24, 1958. She found a love of the ocean, left the Midwest in 1975, and ventured off to Florida. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse from Sheridan Vo-Tech Hollywood, FL in 1983. In 1989, Cindy moved to Salisbury, MD to be closer to her parents and siblings. In 1994, she moved to Dover, DE to support her husband and his business venture.
When Cindy had a project, she was an exuberant force. She spent 14 years as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts by organizing programs like Camp Daisy Low and managing the Kent County cookie delivery team. Cindy was a true savant by mastering various forms of art. In 2004, her creativity led her to volunteer for Heart Ball of the American Heart Association. In 2013, Cindy was determined to start a bakery and accomplished the Entrepreneurial Achievement. For years, she loved to tend to her garden and watch her blossoms flourish.
Cindy had an unyielding radiance that was inspiring to all. She loved to create beauty in a world full of disorder. Cindy was intelligent, creative, fun, kind, caring, patient, thoughtful, honest and loving. Her core belief was that family is the foundation of life. Cindy held many titles in her lifetime, but her favorite was being called Teti (grandma). She enjoyed guiding her grandchildren through different delicacies of life. Teti was such an enormous presence in this world that it now feels empty. Even though her void is painfully prominent, the memory of Cindy Azar will continue to inspire our creativity.
Cindy was predeceased by her spouse, James Azar of Dover, DE, and her parents, Donald and Alice Loring of Salisbury, MD.
Cindy is survived by her two daughters Karon Barbour and Brittany Azar both of Dover, DE; companion Mark Howard of Dover, DE; two grandchildren Aidan Barbour and Katie Barbour both of Dover, DE; two brothers Mark Loring of Salisbury, MD and Dave Loring San Diageo, CA; two sisters Denise Scheufler Berlin, MD, and Stacy Cooper of Quantico, MD; and many beautiful nieces, nephews and grandnieces-nephews.
A private ceremony will be held on June 26. Cindy's family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
