Creadick 'Jerry' Ennis Smith

SMYRNA - Creadick "Jerry" Ennis Smith, of Smyrna, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, surrounded by his family at home. He was 57. Mr. Smith was born Jan. 22, 1952, in Wilmington, the son of the late Kenneth D. and Elizabeth Ennis Smith. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Mapledale Country Club in Dover, and was previously a member of Garrisons Lake Golf Club in Smyrna, where he first learned to play golf. Creadick was a key player on both offense and defense for the 1969 Smyrna High School football team who won the Henlopen Conference title. He is survived by a daughter, Angela M. Smith of Boston, Mass.; a brother, Kenneth D. Smith, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Denton, Md.; a niece, Amy E. Melchior and her husband Ryan of Erie, Pa.; and a nephew, Justin Creadick Smith of Denton who was named after him. Visitation for friends and family will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Memorial services will be noon. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to VITAS Healthcare Corp., 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
