An Ocean Pines man was in the Wicomico County Detention Center, being held without bail, charged with assaulting County Councilman Larry Dodd at the elected official’s home last Thursday in Salisbury.
Ian Christian Lundberg, 41, of Sandy Hook Road in Berlin, was arrested without incident early Friday at an address on Mount Hermon Road, after Salisbury Police obtained an arrest warrant.
Lundberg was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, burglary and trespassing, police said.
Police responded to a report of an assault at about 7 p.m. at Dodd’s home on Bell Avenue.
Police said Dodd and Lundberg argued about their dogs, and one dog had been bitten by the other.
Police said Lundberg entered Dodd’s property and started an argument, while Dodd stood in his doorway holding a baseball bat.
As the argument continued, Lundberg forced his way into the residence.
Police said Dodd was struck in the head and upper body with a closed fist and also with the bat, which Lundberg allegedly grabbed from Dodd.
Dodd, who represents District 3, was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries, police said.
Dodd, 59, just began a third term on the council. He is a former Assistant Fire Chief for the city of Salisbury and a former member of the county school board.
