Coastal Hospice starts grief support group meetings at the Crisfield Library

Posted

CRISFIELD — As part of the services they provide, Coastal Hospice & Palliative Care offers grief support and education to families, friends, caregivers and others following the death of a loved one. The grief support is open to anyone in the community who would like support — not only hospice families.

A new grief support group begins meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Crisfield Library, 100 Collins Street. The group will then meet regularly every first and third Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Bob Miller, a professional grief counselor with Coastal Hospice, will lead the group.

During these meetings, participants will work to help each other. The meeting can be a time of respite and a safe place to express feelings and talk about grief with others who are experiencing similar losses.

“After you have lost a loved one, you may be asking yourself: ‘Why can’t I get over it?’  You may experience many emotions: anxiety, worry, guilt, loneliness,” said Miller.  “All of these thoughts and feelings are normal. The grieving process has no timetable. But if these emotions are interfering with your life, it may be helpful to seek professional help and support. Our services are designed to help you navigate through grief at your own pace.”

For more information, please contact Bob Miller at 410-251-8163 or bmiller@coastalhospice.org.
