Clifford I. Murray Jr., 73 DAGSBORO - Clifford I. Murray Jr., age 73, of Dagsboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Clifford was born on July 31, 1936. He loved his wife and family. His favorite things were to play with his grandchildren, walk, travel to Florida and visit with friends. He will be missed by many. Clifford enlisted in the National Guard in 1957 and retired as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves after 20 years of service. He was employed by Delmarva Power for 35 years. He began his career as a laborer at the Indian River Power Plant, moved to Salisbury where he was an engineering assistant and a buyer. From there he moved to the Millsboro office as an Area Engineer. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lucy Murray; his brother, Tommy; and his grandson, Joseph Calhoun, III. He is survived by the love of his life, Glenda Davidson Murray, with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on November 16th. He is also survived by his daughter, Mona and husband Alton; his son, Keith and wife Wendy; three grandchildren, Michael Calhoun and wife Colleen, Kaylin and Leanne Murray; great-grandson, Adler Calhoun; his brother, Robert Murray and wife Kathy; sisters, Janet Smith and husband Harry, Neva Proudfoot and husband Dave; and numerous family and friends. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Thatcher Street in Frankford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or Bethel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 147, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
