DOVER - Clarence W. "Buddy" Powell, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 24, 2014. He was 86 years old. Buddy was born on May 1, 1928 in Dover, to the late Clarence and Myrtle Powell. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy; their daughter, Deborah; and siblings, Charlotte Clendaniel and Elsie Walls. Clarence married Dorothy, the love of his life, on September 25, 1948. They shared an inseparable bond until the end, when he died only four days after his loving wife. They were together for 66 years, sharing now eternal life with one another. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Navy, after which he was employed with the State of Delaware, Highway Department for 40 years. He was very athletic, and loved sports, especially softball. He played on many leagues becoming lifelong friends with his teammates. He taught his grandchildren the game, and liked playing catch with his great grandsons. He was also an avid bowler, playing on the senior league until just last year. He and his wife enjoyed gathering with friends, especially around the holidays and special occasions. Most importantly, he cherished time with his family, and the special bond he shared with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Buddy is survived by his loving grandchildren, Amber Hall and her husband Christopher, Corey and Mindy Heintz, and Leah; great grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Ryan, and Kaden; siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" Ervin, Samuel and Sylvia Powell, Emilie Olechny, and Helen Dagg. A Funeral Service will be 5 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2014, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE 19934, where friends may gather two hours prior. Graveside service will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Sharon Hills Memorial Park. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
