Clara Marie Conley, 94

LITTLE HEAVEN - Clara Marie Conley, of Little Heaven, passed away while sleeping peacefully Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in her home with family. She was 94. She was born on July 27, 1914, in Felton, to the late Eben and Clara Dill Hughes. Mrs. Conley's kindness has touched many people whether through her volunteer work, her service as a mentor with MYAF or during her time at the family store, Conley's Hardware, the business she and her late husband began and she continued after his death. To many of those who knew her best she will always be "Mom-Mom", the comfort, stability and matriarch of our family. She enjoyed arranging flowers, painting, reading, birds and bird watching (in particular red birds), and most especially spending time with her family and friends which most recently has included two great-great-grandchildren whom she adored, one of which will carry on her beautiful name. She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Conley Sr.; daughter, Joan M. Leonard; brothers, Randolph, Reed, Winfred, Alfred Hughes; sister, Rebecca Hughes; and grandson, James W. Conley III. She is survived by son, James W. Conley Jr. of Ohio; granddaughter, Constance Conley of Little Heaven; granddaughter, Julia Leonard and her husband Steve Kowal of Maryland; grandson and his wife, James W. and Karen Leonard of Maryland; great-grandson and his wife, James W. and Rachel Conley IV of Little Heaven; great-grandson, Justin Leonard of Maryland; great-grandson, Ethan Leonard of Maryland; great-great-grandchildren, Will and Clara Conley. Remembrance Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Trader Funeral Home in Dover. Burial will be in the Barratts Chapel Cemetery Frederica. Friends may also call Thursday from noon till time of the service at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover. The family request that memorial contributions be given to Delaware Hospice 911 South DuPont Hwy Dover, DE 19901 www.dehospice.org and/or SPAN USA The Suicide Prevention Action Network in memory of Clara Conley's grandson, James W. Conley III at www.firstgiving.com/JamesWConleyIII. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.delmarvaobits.com or traderfh@aol.com.
