Clara Ellen Steele Camper

Clara Ellen Steele Camper, 85 HARTLY - Clara Ellen Steele Camper, of Hartly, died Friday, July 4, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 85. She was born on May 27, 1923, in Henderson, Md., to the late Joseph and V. Mae Steele. Mrs. Camper, a lifetime resident of the area, was a member of the Modern Maturity Center, Dover. After working for Richardson & Robbins, Dover, for 26 years, she worked for Playtex for several years. Mrs. Camper enjoyed being with family and thoroughly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Cleveland Camper on April 24, 1999; her sisters, Alta Wingard and Esther Burlingham; her brother, Joseph Steele; and her half-brother, Amos Jones. She is survived by a son, James Camper of Blackwood, N.J.; three daughters, Doris Utter of Jacksonville, Fla., Joan Floyd of Hartly, and Brenda Brown of Harrington; sisters, Ann Durham of Greensboro, Md., Edna Pfieffer and Ruth Baker, both of Dover, Mary Catherine Hurd of Viola, and Alice Lucks of Wyoming; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
