PRESTON, Md. - Christine L. Rieck, of Preston, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Easton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 83. She was born on July 4, 1928, in Easton, Md., the daughter of the late Earl L. LeGates and Edith Stanton LeGates. She graduated from Preston High School and later graduated from Goldey-Beacom Business College. She was married on September 25, 1951 to the late William H. Rieck, Jr who preceded her in death on October 15, 2000. She worked for Preston Trucking before raising her family. Later she worked for Provident State Bank and retired after twenty years of service. She was a loving and devoted mother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston. She is survived by four children, Dr, James R. Rieck of Central, S.C., Dawn Gencel and her husband, Paul of Preston, Md., Cynthia Coverdale and her husband Michael of Milford, Del., and Anne Bradley and her husband David of Federalsburg; and her beloved cats, Nuggett and Angel. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Webb LeGates; a brother, John Stanton LeGates; and a grandson, Todd Gencel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston with the Reverend Thomas Becker officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to the Preston Vol. Fire Company, Post Office Box 44, Preston, MD 21655 or to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Post Office Box 39, Preston, MD 21655.
