Chester Blaine Pennington

Pennington, 89 FELTON - Chester Blaine Pennington, loving husband and father, of Felton passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 89. Mr. Pennington was born April 25, 1925 in Creston, North Carolina to the late Elijah Pennington and Lillie Jones Pennington. He served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict where he was wounded. Mr. Pennington worked Civil Service in Aberdeen and then Dover Air Force Base retiring after 30 years in 1986. He then worked for Bennett Security. Mr. Pennington enjoyed gardening, reading his bible, writing songs and poetry and spending time with family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lowell and Orville Pennington; sisters, Rosa Belle Miller, Elzina Barnes, Pearl Coldiron, and Ruth Roten. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sybil Jarvis Pennington of Felton; son, Kenneth Pennington of Camden; step-sons, Douglas Shelton and his wife Patty of Sandtown, "Buck" Raymond Shelton and his wife Norma of Lincoln, Calvin Shelton of Betterton, Md., Kenny Shelton and his wife Marlene of Dover, Richard Shelton of Felton; daughters, Kathy Page and her husband Gregory of Virginia Beach, Va., Debra Bosco and her husband Robert of Magnolia, Pamela Mancuso and her husband John of Lewes; and step-daughter, Linda Padilla and her companion Jim of Little Creek; brother, Bobby Jo Pennington of Bear; sister, Ella Baldwin of Jefferson, N.C.; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Thursday, July, 31, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Calvary Assembly of God church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901 or the DAV, PO Box 407, Camden, DE 19934. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
