Milford - Charlotte M. Hurd went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 22,2014, in Milford Center. Charlotte was born, May 6, 1927, in Dover, Del. to the late, Joshua & Grace Shahan. For the past 8 years, she has resided in the Milford Center, where she made many friends who will miss her dearly. She had worked for many years at Playtex, and later, I.L.C., before retiring. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Hurd; brothers, Vernon & George Shahan; sisters, Betty Blackburn, Evelyn Cole, Margaret Gourley and Joyce Tribbett; and a grandson, Jeffrey Williams. Charlotte is survived by five daughters, C. Ann Lockerman & husband, John, of Dover; Barbara S. Meredith & husband, Jerry, of Milford; Ruth J. Kimball, of Dover; Ellen L. Morris, of Canterbury; and Brenda K. Engle & husband, William,of Felton. eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; as well as a special friend from childhood, Alice Dunning, friends since she was 12 years old. Funeral Services will be held 1 pm, Monday, October 27, 2014, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may view 1 hour before. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, 240 N. James St., Suite 100 A, Newport, DE 19804 or to the Milford Center, 700 Marvel Rd., Milford, DE 19963.
