MILFORD - Charles W. Sangrey Sr., of Milford, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial. He was 74. Born in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry W. and Nora Sangrey. Mr. Sangrey retired from the Untied State Air Force Reserves. Working in Civil Service for over 31 years, he retired in 1991 as an aircraft maintenance supervisor. While in the Air Force, he traveled extensively overseas, and visited numerous places including France, Germany, and Spain. After retiring, he did taxes on the side for many people, including those in local senior centers. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and RVing. Together with his wife, they traveled to almost every state. Mr. Sangrey was also an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Eagles and Phillies. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Family meant everything to him, and he will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Sangrey was a member of the VFW Post 8896 of East Berlin, Pa., a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Assoc., Harrington Senior Center, and AARP. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Frank Sangrey. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sadie K. Sangrey of Milford; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bobby" and Liubov Sangrey of Oakridge, Tenn., Charles "Chip" and Charlene Sangrey Jr. of Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughter, Donna and Eric Messick of Redlands, Calif.; four grandchildren, Charles W. Sangrey III, Vincent Joseph Charles Messick, Maria and Sofia Sangrey; brother, Harry E. Sangrey of Landisville, Pa.; and sister, Beatrice Lehr of East Berlin, Pa. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
