GEORGETOWN - Charles Ray "Reds" Holston fought a courageous fight against leukemia and succumbed to the illness March 30, 2015. Ray was born on July 21, 1936. He was a loving husband, step-father, and grandfather. Ray served as a medic in the Delaware National Guard. He then went on to a fulfilling career as a Superintendent for George & Lynch retiring after 26 years of service. He and his wife Pat owned and operated The Blue Barn flower shop for 19 years. Ray loved the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers. He was also an avid pool shooter. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pat Holston; stepson, Greg Donaway and wife, Debbie; daughter-in-law, Venetia Donaway; granddaughters, Adrienne, Erica, and Dara Donaway; sisters Margaret Willey and Virginia Molloy; and his beloved dog, Rebel and his great-grand dog, Colby. He was preceded in death by his parents Larry and Edith Holston; brothers, William Elwood "Woody" and Reese "Sadie" Holston; as well as his stepson, Jeffrey Donaway. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE where friends may call at 12:00 noon for a visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy, Suite 101, Rehoboth, DE 19971. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Tunnell Cancer Center, especially Kathy Marks and best friend Donald Short. They would also like to express their thanks to Delaware Hospice. The dress is casual per Ray's request.
