DOVER - Charles R. Buchman of Dover died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Kent General Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Buchman was born August 10, 1936 in Easton, Pennsylvania to the late Reese Buchman and Joyce Stiles Buchman. He served for 20 years in the United States Air Force retiring in 1974. He served his country in both Korea and Vietnam. After his military career he worked as a Motor Fuel tax auditor for the State of Delaware for 17 years. He enjoyed all sports but mostly he was a Boston and Philadelphia fan. Mr. Buchman loved being a pop pop and spending time with his grandchildren. He immensely enjoyed meeting his friends daily for coffee at Hardee's and Spence's and solving the world's problems. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Buchman in 2009. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nellie Green Buchman of Dover; his sons, Jon C. Buchman, Gregory B. Buchman and his wife Laura all of Dover; daughters, Valerie J. Lyons and her husband Michael of Reston, Va., Donna Marie Buchman, Deborah C. Mahaffey and her husband Mark of Dover; brother, Ronald Buchman and his wife Doris of Easton, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
