Charles Matthew Heck

GEORGETOWN - Charles M. Heck, age 79, of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at Christiana Medical Center, Wilmington. Mr. Heck was born in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late Charles L. and Nora (Kramer) Heck. Mr. Heck worked as a serviceman for Delaware Electric Co-op retiring in 1996. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War on the U.S.S. White Marsh. He was a former life member of the Raymond Reynolds VFW Post 2931, Georgetown. He was also a member of the Ellendale VFW. He also enjoyed woodcrafts. In addition to his parents, Mr. Heck was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E. Heck in 1998. He is survived by his five children, Ray Heck, David Heck, and Kenny Heck, all of Georgetown, MaryAnn Hassler of Laurel, and Charles A. Heck of Dagsboro; four brothers, Robert Heck of North Carolina, Frank Heck of Lincoln, Thomas Heck of Salisbury, Md., and Ronald Heck of Georgetown; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held Thursday, Sept. 16 , 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Georgetown. Memorial contribution may be made to the Georgetown Fire Company, P.O. Box 77, Georgetown.
