MILFORD - Charles J. Falco, of Milford, Delaware passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Kent General Hospital. He was 85 years old. Charles was born in New York City, New York to the late Giuseppe and Anna Falco. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Alphonse Falco; and sister, Marie Stone. Charles attended Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, where he graduated at the top of his class, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. In December 1950, Charles enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He spent time stationed at Fort Meade and the Pentagon. After receiving an honorable discharge, Charles continued his education at Hofstra and Adelphi Universities, receiving his Master's Degree in Mathematics. He spent the majority of his working career at Sperry-Unisys, retiring after 37 dedicated years of service. He remained very active in his community, volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Milford, and working as a Community Tax Coordinator, preparing taxes for Senior Citizens thru AARP. In April 2000, he was presented Volunteer of the Year at Milford Senior Center. Charles had many hobbies and interests. He loved gardening, and shared vegetables with his friends and neighbors. He could fix just about anything, and passed these traits down to his son Steve. Most of all, he enjoyed ballroom dancing with his best friend and wife, Irene. He was also a longtime member of the Shawnee Dance Club, Milford Senior Center, and the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene; his son, Steve Falco, and his wife, Debbie (Va.); his daughter, Ann Marie, and her husband, James Gann (Ga.); grandchildren, Michael, Tony, and Elyse Forte; two great grandchildren; brother in law, Bob Bilello, and his wife Gerda (N.J.); niece, Christine Lehman, and her husband, Ken (N.J.); nephew, Eric and Tina Bilello (Md.); nephew, Dr. Joseph Falco and wife Dr. Mary Ann Falco (N.Y.); niece, Dr. Nancy Chedid and her children, Georges, Antonios, and Nabil. (Mass.). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Avenue Milford, Delaware 19963. Friends may gather one hour prior. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles' honor can be made to Bayhealth Foundation, 640 S. State St. Dover, Delaware 19901.
