MILFORD - Charles Henry Chamberlin, age 65, died on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, after a year long battle with cancer. Charlie was born in Waterbury, Conn., to Charles Rutledge Chamberlin and Harriette (Vollers) Chamberlin of Middlebury, Conn., on Aug. 21, 1943. He relocated from Waterbury, to Milford, in 2004. He attended Wilby High School class of 1961 and four years of undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut and Central Connecticut State College. He was a substitute teacher for Waterbury, Conn./Milford, Del., school districts and had retired in 2006. He had worked previously as an accountant for the Duracell Company and owned/operated several foodservice establishments. While in Milford, he was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Temple Masonic Lodge #9, AF & AM and the Harrington Moose Lodge # 534. Charlie enjoyed playing football for Wilby High School and UCONN as well as coaching many levels of Pop Warner football and winning the Connecticut state title in 1978. Charlie was past President of the East Mountain Athletic Association. He played softball for over 20 years and recorded over 200 wins as a pitcher. He won state softball titles playing in Newtown, Conn., for the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He will be remembered for his affable nature, concern for others and his fighting spirit, not to mention his fondness for the Green Bay Packers and Brooklyn Dodgers. Charlie will be remembered by the friendships he developed through fitness training and country line dancing. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon (Slager) Chamberlin of Oakville, Conn.; his son, Charles (Chase) Chamberlin and daughter-in-law Lara of Watertown, Conn.; grandson, Dexter; granddaughter, Hailey; his other son, CAPT Clint Chamberlin and daughter-in-law Anne of Bethesda, Md.; and granddaughter, Lauren; and his aunt, Kay Bergin of Waterbury, Conn. A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at Christ Church located at 200 North Church Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers contributions can made to the Christ Church Memorial Fund, P.O.
