Charles H. 'Charlie' Klein, 81

WYOMING - Charles H. "Charlie" Klein, 81, of Wyoming, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Pinnacle Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Smyrna. Charlie was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Dundalk, Baltimore County, Maryland, son of the late Fredick C. R. and Elizabeth (Havens) Klein. He served in United States Navy from 1945 - 1949. He married the love of his life, Rosie Ford on Aug. 7, 1953, after a brief courtship having met at a dance at the Camden-Wyoming Fire Co. He was retired from the State of Delaware, Caesar Rodney School District where he worked as a custodian at the Caesar Rodney High School. He coached Girls Softball for Kent County Parks and Recreation, he was a Caesar Rodney Band Parent and Booster, he worked for many years as an auctioneer. He loved to sing and was a member of several local Barber Shop Quartets. He was best known for a wink, a flirt and smile. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie in 1999; and an infant son, Charles H. Klein, Jr. in 1965. He is survived by three daughters, Charlene M. Bethea and her husband Bill of Archdale, N.C., Brenda A. Vick and her husband Dan of Wyoming, and Deborah L. Klein of Dover. He was "Poppy" to four granddaughters, Jennifer R. Evans of Wyoming, Heather M. Kurtz and her husband Richie of High Point, N.C., Janelle S. Hanks and her boyfriend Jason of High Point, N.C., and Ashley R. Klein of Dover; four grandsons, Michael C. Klein of Camden, James E. Seaman and his wife Kristie of Camden, Willis J. Seaman III and his wife Sara of Dover, and Danny C. Vick of Marydel, Md.; and eight great-grandchildren, Bryce W. Evans and Brynn Rose Randall, Kayden and Kayla Hanks, Elizabeth (Libby), Hunter, Tyler and Courtney Seaman; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Nuke" Porter of Felton, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., evening, July 20.
