Charles Ernest Parker, 70
MILLSBORO - Charles Ernest Parker, formerly of Odessa, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 70. Charles was born in Dover, grew up in Leipsic, and graduated from John Bassett Moore High School. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard before joining the Delaware State Police, retiring in 1982 after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Parker and Bessie Boggs; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Connie; his brother, James W. Parker of Bowers Beach; and sister and brother-in-law, Maureen G. and Ronald Reb of Dover. A funeral service will be 12 noon Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Carey's Cemetery, Frankford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Charles's memory to Delaware State Police Museum, 1425 N. DuPont Hwy., P.O. Box 430, Dover, DE 19903; or Delaware Police Chief's Foundation for the Police Memorial Fund for all fallen police officers within the State of Delaware, c/o Chief McDerby, 1 Municipal Blvd., New Castle, DE 19720.
