Charles 'Big Buck' Alfred Walls, 95
SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Charles Alfred Walls, of Sudlersville, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, in his home. He was 95. Charles A. Walls was born Dec. 21, 1912, near Sudlersville, the son of the late Charles W. Walls and Bessy Duhamel "Nickerson" Walls. Mr. Walls was a 1930 graduate of Sudlersville High School. He then went on to receive a business degree from Goldey Commercial College in 1932. Mr. Walls returned home from the Wilmington area and married Margaret Davis. The two started a family and Mr. Walls went to work with his father in the trucking business hauling ice, coal and fertilizer. Charles and his father operated Walls ARCO Service station. After his father passed, he and his son went into business together. Mr. Walls worked until he was in his early 80's. Mr. Walls was a member of Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church in Sudlersville, and also a Trustee of Dudley's Chapel. He enjoyed bowling and recording history with Anna Walls at the Sudlersville Train Station and with the Sudlersville Library staff. Mr. Walls was a very friendly and easy going individual. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walls was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Davis Walls in 2000; one son, Charles Davis Walls Sr. in 2005; and one sister, Margaret Walls Collier. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Karen F. Craft-Walls of Sudlersville; three grandchildren, Jefferey M. Walls of Virginia, Leanne W. Gower of Ridgeley, Charles Davis Walls Jr. of Sudlersville; and three great-grandchildren, Laurne Walls, Stephen Walls, and Alex Gower; and a great-great-grandson, Gary Harris. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Dudley's Chapel Church in Sudlersville. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. The family has asked anyone attending to dress warm. Interment will be held in Sudlersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to Dudley's Chapel Church c/o Loretta Walls 102 Archer Lane Millington, MD 21651.
