DOVER - Catherine M. Brown, of Dover, joined the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, in Kent General Hospital. Kay was born, June 23, 1947, in Chestertown, Md., to Catherine and Edward Lomax. Kay's early childhood was spent in Price, Md., where her playhouse was filled with stained glass windows. After moving to Camden, Kay attended Holy Cross Elementary School in Dover, followed by Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, graduating in 1966. Kay went to work at Kent General Hospital, Dover, as bookkeeper from 1966 until 1975. On Feb. 13, 1975, Kay, and her then husband, welcomed the birth of their only child, son, Christopher P. Salgado. She then continued her career and became a bookkeeper for Berry Van Lines in Dover, worked at Dover Datsun in Dover, as a title clerk and bookkeeper, and in 1987 went to work in Kent County Government Sewer/Water/Tax office(s) until retiring in 2009. On April 15, 1989, Kay married her soul mate, Edward (Pete) Brown. Kay was an accomplished baker of cakes and cookies. She loved and accomplished many beautiful crochet pieces along with her excellent sewing talent. Kay was extremely charitable to all in need and she loved all holidays, Christmas being her favorite. Kay loved to help "Santa" on the North Pole phone lines for kids. Kay loved country music, going to Bingo and the slots and everyone knows her favorite response to just about everything was, "Whatever." She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Eddie Lomax, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kay is survived by her husband, Edward (Pete) Brown of Dover; son, Christopher P. Salgado and his wife Michelle of Dover; brothers, Roderick A. Lomax of Magnolia, Stephen G. Lomax and his wife Carol of Orlando, Fla., Richard A. Lomax and his wife Judy of Camden; sisters, Judith A. Lomax of Dover, Cindy Lumen of Texas; aunts, Helena G. Perry and her husband David of Avondale, Pa., Jeanie H. Henszey of Trappe, Md., Betty E. M. Queen of Warrington, Va., Markie Graham of Chestertown, Md., Janice Graham of Sanford, Fla., Doris Lomax of Dover; three grandsons, Brian Salgado, Austin Salgado, and Cody Vavala of Dover; niece, Jennifer Lindberg and her husband Jared of Ephrata, Pa.; nephews, Robert Lomax of Ephrata Pa., and Davy Lomax of Florida; great-nephew, Joshua Lindberg of Ephrata, Pa.; cousins, Ginny Adams of St. Michaels, Md., Roland Lomax and his wife Trish of Felton; and many others. Kay will also be missed greatly by her cat, 'Kitty'. We want to thank the staff and physicians at Kent General Hospital, Silver Lake Nursing Home, the members of Seasons Hospice for their expert care and kindness, and especially her Pastor, John Davis, of Trinity Wesleyan Church, Dover, for being by Kay's side at her time of need. Friends and family may join us for a remembrance service on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, beginning at 6 p.m., at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Burial will be held in private at the request of family. Letters of condolence may be sent to www.delmarvaobits.com or traderfh@aol.com.
