BRIDGEVILLE - Catherine "Cathy" Marie (Jester) Smoot, 49, of Bridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, after a long battle in life. She was born July 8, 1961 in Seaford, daughter of the late Lawrence Edward Jester and Virginia Sue (Paxson) Jefferson. Cathy worked in the restaurant industry as a sous-chef and chef in various restaurants including Jimmy's Grill, Town and Country Restaurant, and Kings' Creek Country Club. She always had open arms for those she loved and she was well known for her amazing southern home cooking. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and her dogs, Sammie and Riley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Jester and Franklin Jefferson; and her step-father, Erving Jefferson Sr. She is survived by her son, Daniel Wayne Jester and his wife Katy Bennett of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Amber Rae Smoot of Bridgeville, and Brieanna Nichole Sockriter of Milton; three brothers, Robert A. Bitler Jr. and wife Pamela of Ellendale, Erving "Jeff" Jefferson of Seaford, and Kenneth Jester of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Rhea Jester of Bridgeville; and granddaughter Bennett Elizabeth Jester of Alexandria, Va. All services will be private. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Bridgeville.
