Dover - Catherine Margaret "Marge" Bader passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on March 12, 1930 to Casper Shibe and Eva (Schuler) Shibe. Marge graduated from Girls High School in Philadelphia and attended a few years of business college. In 1949, she married Harry Bader "the boy next door" also from the Fishtown section of Philly. Soon after they married, Harry graduated from Drexel University and took a job with Playtex which brought the couple to Dover for their first of three stays in the capital of the First State. In addition to Dover, Harry's 55+ years in the latex industry took them to live in Armprior, Canada, Greenock, Scotland, Ohio and Oklahoma. In each location, Marge set-up house and made fast friends. In addition to caring for her three children, Marge took on a variety of jobs over the years including working at the Dover Air Force Base BX, teaching pre-school and managing a studio for Merle Norman Cosmetics. Even so she still found time for a busy social life. She played tennis, golf and bridge, volunteered for the Girl Scouts and for the hospital Junior League… just to name a few activities during her early married life. There were also great parties, business trips to exotic locales and fun-filled vacations. Their travels took them to Europe, Australia, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Bermuda, Mexico and Antigua. In 1980, Marge and Harry returned to Dover, the place that she always called home. She rekindled many old friendships and started many new ones. During the last 35 years she has been a part of, at one time or another, the Delaware Hospice Festival of Trees, Friends of Old Dover, Dover Century Club, Elizabeth W. Murphey School, the American Red Cross, Women of Christ Church and the Potpourri Garden Club. She volunteered during the startup of the Biggs Museum of American Art and played a key role in acquiring the bronze statue commemorating Dr. Benjamin Burton at the entrance of Kent General Hospital. Marge also kept busy with gardening, knitting, crafting, shopping, visiting the beach and socializing with her friends. And, the fabulous parties and vacations continued for the 63 years of their marriage until Harry's passing in 2013. In addition to Harry, Marge was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Holly Bader of Norman, Oklahoma. She is survived by her son, Curt Bader and wife Debbie of Kent's Store, Va.; daughter, Heather Cregar and husband Eddie of Dover; and numerous relatives and friends from throughout the world. A graveside burial and memorial service will be held in the spring when the flowers are in bloom. Arrangements are being handled by Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Memorial donations may be made to the Biggs Museum of American Art, P.O. Box 711, Dover, DE 19903 or the First State Animal Center & SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
