Catherine Ida Ransom, 80 GOLTS, Md. - Catherine Ida Ransom, of Golts, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, in her home. She was 80. Born on Nov. 8, 1927, in Penns Grove, N.J., daughter of the late Theodore and Stella Ayers Morgan. She moved to Kent County, Del. in the 1950's. For over 30 years she was a foster parent for the Kent County Dept. of Social Services, raising 27 children. Mrs. Ransom was preceded in death by her husband, William James Ransom Sr. in 1984; a son Keith Ransom; nine siblings, Pearl Lewis, Bernice Driver, Ulysses Morgan, Leola Morgan, Theodore Morgan, Fletcher Morgan, Previs Morgan, Jackson Morgan and Ruth Woodard. She is survived by six children, Gwendolyn Ransom, Yvonne Ransom and Ronnie Ransom all of Golts, Omar Sudler of Clayton, Del., Jackson Morgan of Hartford, Conn., and William J. Ransom Jr., of Ellicott City; a brother, Jewell Morgan of Calif.; a sister, Rebecca Morgan of New Castle, Del.; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, in Graves Chapel, Big Stone Rd. Millington, where a viewing will be one hour prior. Friends may call, Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena. Burial will be in Lees Chapel, Golts.
